Marita Kirk
MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for Hope Davis Gray, 86, will be 10 a.m., March 17, at Rollie Mortuary, Gallup. The Rev. Tulley H. Lee and Rev. Leta Chee will officiate. Burial will be in private family plot, Mariano Lake.
Gray died March 9, 2011, in Gallup. She was born July 27, 1924, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Meadow People Clan.
Gray was a homemaker, rug weaver, silver, foster grandparent, ONEO (for the tribe). She was employed with Tommy Elkins Enterprise for 10 years. She supported the veteran’s organization. She won numerous awards for best dressed and self taught to read and write. Her hobbies included participating in Kin aalda, song and dance and revivals.
Survivors include her son, Paul Davis Lee Sr. of Mariano Lake; daughter, Emma J. Lincoln of Mariano Lake; sister, Ada Morgan of Pinedale; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Gray; parents, Ben and Nellie Davis; son, Thorton S. Lee; brothers, Hoskie David, Mark Davis; sisters, Sarah D. Lee, Mary Davis; one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Paulsen D. Lee, Paul D. Lee Jr., Harrington Lee, Randy Lee, Tulley Lincoln.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter, following services.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Morgan
CROWNPOINT — Funeral services are pending for Charles Morgan, 97.
Morgan died March 13, 2011, in Crownpoint. He was born April 17, 1914, in Dalton Pass.
A meeting will be 6 p.m., Wednesday at Crownpoint Chapter and 6 p.m., Thursday, at Churchrock Chapter.
Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrarngements.
Josephine Pilons
GALLUP — Josephine “Little Jo” Pilons, 73, died March 13, 2011, in Gallup. She was born April 26, 1937, in Durango, Colo.
Pilons was a local bartender for 44 years. She loved to cook and feed anyone and everyone. She always made sure her family and neighbors, even her customers were fed. Pilons liked to make people laugh and play harmless practical jokes.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Romero, Frankie Pilon, Randy Pilon, Gregory “Kiki” Pilon; daughter, Debbie Martin; brothers, Robert Romero, Tom Romero; sisters, Angie Morales, Bernie Vigil; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Pilons was preceded in death by her parents, Jenero Romero, Charolette Carlita Martinez; sister, Bernice Vigil; sons, Randy and Frank Pilon; one grandson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Gallups Elks Lodge, 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Little Jo” memorial at Washington Federal.
